FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
FAYETTEVILLE, TN-The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series opening weekend has fallen due to the winter storm that will be hitting the south later this afternoon and evening.

East Alabama Motor Speedway officials have decided to look for another date for the 18th Annual Bama Bash as the grounds have already been saturated and heavy rain is in the forecast for another 1-3 inches of rain this afternoon and tonight.

“We had drivers cancelling due to the winter weather in the Carolinas and East Tennessee that would not be able to make it to the track for the weekend of racing.” said Beverly Thompson general manager of East Alabama Motor Speedway.  “We just did not want to put any of our race teams on the roads in dangerous conditions due to ice and snow as we are now looking for another date to run the Bama Bash.”

Also the 13th Annual March Madness race at the Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC., has also been postponed to due to the rain, ice and snow that is in the forecast for the rest of the week.  “We just have too much rain, ice and snow in the forecast for the remainder of the week and with a forecast like that it would be hard to get the track ready and in shape to race on” said track owner Lennie Buff.

The race is postponed till Sunday afternoon March 29th with a full racing program slated to be in action.

More information concerning the 18th Annual Bama Bash & 13th Annual March Madness will be coming up in the following weeks.
