Smoky Mountain Speedway has been noted in recent years for hosting some of the biggest events in dirt racing and that trend will continue during the 2016 season at the track. In keeping with their custom of promoting shows paying no less than $5,000-to-win, track officials at the 4/10 mile facility located just south of Maryville, Tenn. have offered up a schedule of ten races that is sure to bring the biggest names in the sport to the area.

And SMS will waste no time in getting things off to a fast and lucrative start. The season’s first contest will be its richest when the Ray Cook promoted Spring Nationals invade the track grounds to stage a two-night event that will ultimately pay $15,000 to the victor.

Along with that race, the two national touring series will each make appearances on the SMS high banks during the coming year. The World of Outlaws Late Models, featuring such well-known stars as Josh Richards, Shane Clanton, Rick Eckert and Tim McCreadie, will roll through the gates on May 7 for a $10,000-to-win affair. Later in the summer, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and defending champion Jonathan Davenport along with the likes of Scott Bloomquist, Jimmy Owens, Don O’Neal and Darrell Lanigan will take to the track on July 9 for a $12,000-to-win feature.

The Ultimate Super Late Model Series will be on hand for two big shows during the year as will the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series. The Southern Nationals will make its annual penultimate stop at the track in mid summer while the Southern Nationals Bonus series is set for two visits to the speedway.

The facility also plans to host the United Sprint Car Series on April 23 in conjunction with one of the Southern All Stars events as well as numerous support class races throughout the season.
