Quick Six: Recapping World of Outlaws weekend

This edition of the Quick Six looks back at last weekend’s World of Outlaws action.

1. The World of Outlaws Late Model Dirt Series brought two huge crowds of fans to both Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY and Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN. Both tracks also saw some pretty good racing.

2. Rick Eckert’s win was a popular one and shows the Pennsylvania driver still has it.

3. Even though he still hasn’t won since Speedweeks, Shane Clanton rebounded with a good weekend. He had a shot at the win at Ponderosa before the track locked down with about a dozen laps to go.

4. Scott Bloomquist was back to old form in dominating the Smoky Mountain event. It will be interesting to see if he found something or if this was a one-week thing.

5. Heading into the unofficial start of summer, Darrell Lanigan is still winless on the series tour. He had his shot at Ponderosa until Eckert got by him. Lanigan won 17 series races last season.

6. Despite having recent knee surgery, Chub Frank is putting together an impressive season. Though winless on the tour, Frank has had three good finishes in the three area races.
