Pre-Race Notes: Cabin Fever 40 at Boyd’s Speedway

Throughout the season, InsideDirtRacing.com hopes to offer a set of ongoing, continuously updated pre-race notes for the bigger events set to take place in the near future. These notes will offer information regarding news pertaining to the event such as weather, drivers who have indicated that they will race, classes to be competing and particular rules and/or format for the race in question.

Race: The Cabin Fever 40

Track: Boyd’s Speedway(1/3 mile clay oval)

Location: Ringgold, GA

Date: January 31, 2015

Time: Hot laps are set to begin at 1:00pm with racing action to follow soon afterward.

Classes: Unsanctioned Super Late Models for $3,000-to-win(40 laps); Crate Late Models for $1,000-to-win; A-Hobby for $400-to-win; B-Hobby for $300-to-win; Pony Stocks for $200-to-win.

Admission: Adult General Admission is $17 while children 12 and under are admitted for free. Adult Pit Passes are $30 while children 12 and under are $10.

Weather: The forecast calls for cloudy but dry conditions with temperatures around 50 degrees.

Possible Entrants: Riley Hickman, Ray Cook, Vic Hill, Donald McIntosh, Billy Ogle, Jr., Jason Welshan, Pierce McCarter, Ryan Gifford, Tom Maddox, Aaron Ridley, Derek Ellis, Tod Hernandez and more.

Other Information: This event will serve as the 2015 season opener for Boyd’s Speedway.

Bonus money will be offered for the top-3 finishing drivers who employ Limited/Steelhead engines in the Super Late Model feature.

There will be an open practice session for all classes on Friday night, January 30.

In 2014, Riley Hickman won this race after executing a mid-race pass on Tom Maddox. Hickman’s father had passed away just days prior to the race.

Donald McIntosh won the final race of the 2014 season at Boyd’s when he claimed the $5,000 Unsanctioned Super Late Model ‘Turkey Gobble’ event last November.
