According to the press release, Volunteer Speedway and 411 Motor Speedway will run the same weekly classes under the same rules. Veteran racing official Rick Brooks will serve as the general manager while Joe Byrd will be in charge of tech at both facilities.

Track workers in Bulls Gap were informed of the changes on Monday according to Volunteer Speedway public relations representative Robert Walden. All workers who had previously been employed by the speedway will remain in place with the McCarters and Brooks serving as overseers.

Volunteer Speedway has functioned primarily as a special events track over the past several seasons with the Steel Head Late Models, Sportsman, and Modified Street divisions running regularly within those shows. The Scorcher, held in August of each year, has served as the track’s marquee event. A number of different series have contested races on the 3/8 mile dirt track and several touring series are scheduled to appear this season.

411 Motor Speedway has its Frostbuster race set for this Saturday while Volunteer Speedway is set to open on March 4th with Steel Head Late Models serving as the feature attraction.
