Live Updates: Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Golden Isles(2-11-17)

*Please Note: These updates will focus solely on the LOLMDS race.

General Information:

The drivers meeting is slated for 4:30pm with hot laps to follow soon afterward.

Weather is expected to be clear and warm.

4:30- Drivers meeting underway.

A track official announced to drivers that track prep has been done and some procedural changes have been made to help provide more multiple lane racing.

Just announced that the car must be through pre-race tech at least 15 minutes prior to the drivers meeting before that driver will be eligible to receive a provisional for the feature.

4:50- Hot laps about to begin.

5:15- Waiting for final track prep to be completed.

6:10- Cars out on track to help roll it in.

6:25- Hot laps about to begin. They are doing two sessions of hot laps for the Lucas cars.

Richards, Bradsher, Bloomquist, Fitzgerald, Weiss and Shirley were fastest in each hot lap group. Bloomquist was fastest overall.

7:05- Lucas hot laps are over. Qualifying to come soon.

7:30- Qualifying underway.

Heat Race Results: There will be six heat races with the top-3 from each transferring to the feature.

Heat 1 Lineup – 1. Overton, 2. T Erb, 3. Bronson, 4. Davenport, 5. Bailes, 6. King, 7. Satterlee, 8. Lawler, 9. McKenzie

Heat 1 Finish- 1. Overton, 2. Davenport, 3. T Erb… Satterlee, Bailes

*Overton led all the way. Davenport was 4th on the start but passed Bronson early on then moved around Erb for second on lap 4.

Heat 2 Lineup- 1. Bloomquist, 2. Coulter, 3. H O’Neal, 4. Eckert, 5. Hubbard, 6. S Roberts, 7. Heckenast, 8. Gardner, 9. Flinner

Heat 2 Finish- 1. Bloomquist, 2. H O’Neal, 3. Eckert… Hubbard, Coulter

*Bloomquist led all the way and won by more than a straightaway. Coulter slipped high on the start and fell back. O’Neal and Eckert ran close throughout but could not keep pace with Bloomquist.

Heat 3 Lineup- 1. Richards, 2. McCreadie, 3. Hamm, 4. Bradsher, 5. Francis, 6. Culp, 7. Spencer, 8. Eunice

Heat 3 Finish- 1. Richards, 2. McCreadie, 3. Hamm… Bradsher, Francis

*Richards took the lead at the start and won by a straightaway. Positions 2-5 stayed tight but there was no passing.

Heat 4 Lineup- 1. Shirley, 2. Pettyjohn, 3. McIntosh, 4. D Erb, 5. Larson, 6. Rettig, 7. Junghans, 8. Smith, 9. Gardner

Heat 4 Finish- 1. Shirley, 2. Pettyjohn, 3. McIntosh… Larson, Rettig

*There were two failed attempts to start heat 4. Erb and Rettig involved in the first incident with McIntosh and Rettig involved in the second. Shirley won by a healthy margin.

Heat 5 Lineup- 1. Moyer Jr, 2. Owens, 3. Pearson, 4. Briggs, 5. Ligon, 6. C Roberts, 7. Weiss, 8. Tankersley, 9. Nasworthy

Heat 5 Finish- 1. Moyer Jr, 2. Pearson, 3. Owens… Tankersley, Briggs

*This was a close race as the top-3 stayed tightly bunched throughout. Pearson got by Owens on the first lap to secure second.

Heat 6 Lineup- 1. Sheppard, 2. Drown, 3. D O’Neal, 4. Connor, 5. Lanigan, 6. Conley, 7. Moran, 8. Fitzgerald

Heat 6 Finish- 1. Drown, 2. D O’Neal, 3. Sheppard… Conley, Moran

*Sheppard fell to 4th on the start when his car went high in turn one. Sheppard made a bold move on a lap 2 restart to get by Lanigan. Lanigan fell all the way to the tail.

B-main Results: There will be two B-mains with the top-2 from each transferring to the feature.

Hubbard and Coulter transfer to the feature out of a caution filled B-main 1. Bailes was running second until King made an attempt to get by in turn 3 that ended with Bailes spinning.

Larson and Tankersley transfer to the feature from B-main 2. Erb and Lanigan will likely get provisionals.

10:35- Using the cars to pack down the bottom line.

10:36- Four wide!

10:39- Green flag!

Lap 20- Caution free so far. Richards with big lead over Bloomquist and Overton.

Lap 30- Still caution free. Richards lead by a straightaway over Bloomquist, Overton, Shirley, Davenport.

Lap 45- Still the same as above.

Richards completely dominated. He was able to use the outside early on to lap cars and get away but the track locked down around halfway.

Feature Finish: 1. Richards, 2. Bloomquist, 3. Overton, 4. Shirley, 5. Davenport, 6. Drown, 7. Pettyjohn, 8. D O’Neal.
