Classes in action: Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Super Late Models for $10,000-to-win(50 laps) and the NeSmith Winter Shootout for Crate Late Models for $2,500-to-win(50 laps).

*Please Note: These updates will focus primarily on the LOLMDS race, but some NeSmith updates will be provided as well.

General Information:

Drivers meeting is set for 4:30pm with Hot Laps planned for 5:00pm.

The weather forecast calls for clear skies and cool temperatures.

With last night’s rainout, this points-paying event will serve as the season opener for the LOLMDS.

Also, the NeSmith Winter Shootout for Crate Late Models will continue tonight and on Saturday night. Chase Edge currently leads those standings over Tyler Clem, Kyle Bronson, William Thomas and Ryan King.

4:30- Drivers meeting underway.

6:10- SLM qualifying about to begin.

Josh Richards was the fastest overall in Lucas Oil hot laps.

Qualifying Results: The cars will be broken into two qualifying groups with the top-2 from each earning a pole position in the four respective heat races.

Group B- 1. Landers (15.399), 2. Shirley… Madden, Carrier, Bronson

Heat Race Results: There will be four heat races with the top-4 from each transferring to the feature.

Heat 1 lineup: Davenport, Richards, Pettyjohn, McCreadie, Marlar, Roberts, Satterlee, Lloyd, King, Bloomquist, Hollenbeck, Baker

Heat 1 finish: 1. Richards, 2. Davenport, 3. Lloyd, 4. McCreadie… Pettyjohn, Satterlee, Bloomquist, Marlar.

*That was a thriller as Davenport got the early jump then Richards got by on lap 7.

Heat 2 lineup: Sheppard, Kirkpatrick, Francis, Lanigan, Moran, Weaver, Ligon, Bradsher, Mitchell, Josh Rice, Guy

Heat 2 finish: 1. Sheppard, 2. Francis, 3. Moran, 4. Lanigan… Weaver, Kirkpatrick, Bradsher

*Sheppard led all the way. Lanigan fell outside the top-4 and had to work his way back into a transfer spot. He and Moran were side-by-side at the line for third.

Heat 3 lineup: Landers, Madden, Bronson, McIntosh, Erb, O’Neal, Millwood, Connor, Junghans, Murray, Eunice

Heat 3 finish: 1. Landers, 2. Madden, 3. Erb, 4. McIntosh… O’Neal, Bronson, Junghans

*Landers and Madden raced side-by-side for several laps early before Landers pulled ahead.

Heat 4 lineup: Shirley, Carrier, Moyer, Owens, Pearson, Zeigler, Whitener, Franklin, Langley, James Rice, Theiss

Heat 4 finish: 1. Shirley, 2. Carrier, 3. Owens, 4. Moyer, Jr. … Zeigler, Whitener, Franklin

*Shirley led all the way with the best battle being between Owens and Moyer for third. Pearson spun on lap 4, then retired from the race.

B-Main Results: There will be two B-main races with the top-3 from each transferring to the feature.

B-main #1 finish: 1. Weaver, 2. Pettyjohn, 3. Satterlee

B-main #2 finish: 1. Zeigler, 2. O’Neal, 3. Whitener

Bloomquist and Pearson will take provisional starting spots.

Feature Notes:

10:25- Feature rolling out. 50 laps for $10,000.

10:35- Four wide!

10:38- Green flag!

Lap 4 caution as Erb spins and climbs the berm in turn 2. Richards had been pulling away from Landers, Shirley and a great battle between Madden, Carrier and Davenport.

Lap 6 caution as Erb spins again. This time in turn 3. Richards leads Landers, Sheppard, Carrier and Shirley

Lap 14 caution. Richards still in control over Landers, Sheppard, Carrier, Madden, Shirley, Lloyd, Lanigan, McCreadie, Moran and Davenport.

Davenport got very loose under Madden on lap 7 and very nearly spun.

Lap 21 caution. The 6 car is on a mission after falling back. Just after the last restart Landers and Madden got together which bottle necked the field and Davenport flew on the outside. Richards leads Sheppard, Davenport, Landers and Carrier.

Lap 42 caution for Weaver. Richards still leads but Sheppard closed dramatically in traffic just before the yellow. Davenport, Landers, Carrier, Lanigan follow.

Sheppard challenged late but Richards held on.

Lap 10 caution. Edge leads Carter Williams, Garrison and Knight.

Halfway- Edge has a pretty good lead over Garrison and Williams.

Lap 31 caution. Edge leads Williams, Garrison, Carter, Conley, Diekemper, Knight and Herrington. Edge had built a lead of over 5 seconds during that green flag run.
