We will be providing live updates from the Spring Nationals race as well as support classes from the Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, TN for Friday night, March 14, 2014.

Classes in action: 

Spring Nationals Super Late Models(40 laps for $4,000-to-win)

Crate Late Models(30 laps)

Time: The drivers meeting is set for 7:00pm with hot laps to follow soon afterwards.

Weather: The forecast calls for clear skies with a daytime high around 60 degrees.

General Information: This is the opening weekend of the Ray Cook promoted Spring Nationals. Tonight’s race is the first of a double header at the Volunteer Speedway with a $10,000-to-win event set for Saturday night.

Jimmy Owens is here with his new Club 29 car and Darrell Lanigan is on hand to help out.

Order of events for tonight:

1. Crate LM qualifying

2. Super LM qualifying ( Top-8 locked in)

3. Last chance heats(10 laps)- 3 heats taking the top-4.

4. Crate LM feature(30 laps)

5. Super LM feature(40 laps)

Heat 1finish: Payne, Boles, Vineyard, Maddox(passed Douglas on last lap).

Heat 2 lineup: B Ogle, Wolfenbarger, Mayse, Wilson, McCarter, McIntosh, King, Denby, Carter

Heat 2 finish: B Ogle, Wolfenbarger, McCarter, McIntosh

Heat 3 lineup: Collins, Hill, Casebolt, Lee, Leake, Linville, Franklin, Russell

Heat 3 finish: Hill, Collins, Casebolt, Lee

Lap 16 caution for Casebolt. Owens jumped to the early lead with a bold outside move in turn 2. Madden and Bloomquist have been battling for 2nd with Wells and Marlar following. Owens has been making great moves in traffic to keep a comfortable lead.

Lap 37 caution. Owens continues to lead by knifing through traffic. Madden and Bloomquist mixing it up for 2nd and Marlar has joined them.

Finish- Jimmy Owens wins in his new Club 29 over Madden, Bloomquist, Marlar, Wells, C Ogle, Roberts, Hill and Chilton.

Crate Late Models

Drivers here- 15 cars

Bryson Dennis, Kip Sawyer, Gary Crittenden, Jerry Broyles, Hugh Scalf, Warren McMahan, Jensen Ford, Cody Brake, Eric Register, Greg Martin, Josh Henry, Heath Alvey, Richard Adkins, Chuck Price, Tim Maupin.

8:10- Hot laps underway.

8:30- Qualifying underway. Field will be set by time-trials.

Qualifying results: 1. Jensen Ford(14.213), 2. Maupin, 3. Alvey, 4. McMahan, 5. Henry, 6. Broyles, 7. Dennis, 8. Martin

10:10- Feature rolling onto the track.

10:15- Green flag!

Lap 2 caution for Crittenden. Ford leads Maupin, Alvey, McMahan and Henry.

Lap 19 caution for Dennis. Ford still leads Maupin. Incredible racing for 3rd-6th by McMahan, Alvey, Martin and Henry.

Crate LM feature finish- Jensen Ford dominates for the win over Maupin, McMahan, Martin, Alvey and Broyles.

Henry suffered a flat on the last lap and fell back.
