We will be providing live updates from the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Touring Series race as well as support classes from the 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN for Friday night, April 4, 2014.

Classes in action: 

NeSmith Dirt (Crate)Late Model Touring Series for $2,000-to-win in a 40-lap feature event.

Time:

Drivers meeting is scheduled for 6:00pm with hot laps to commence soon after.

Drivers meeting moved back to 6:15.

Rain moved through east Tennessee this morning but has since moved out. Only a slight chance of showers later.

General Information:

Crate Late Models have become the primary feature class for 411’s weekly shows this season. This is a NeSmith Series touring race but a number of 411 regulars are expected to compete. After early season events at the Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, GA, Ray Cook(not a NeSmith regular) holds a narrow lead over Walker Arthur and Mack McCarter in the series standings.

This is the first of a two night double-header. The NeSmith drivers will race for $3,000-to-win on Saturday with the Thunder & Lightning and Street Stock classes racing in support for $1,000-to-win each.

Order of events:

Hot laps- Sportsman, Late Models and Mini Stocks.

Qualifying(all 2 laps)- Sportsman, Late Models and Mini Stocks.

Heat races- Sportsman(6 laps), Mini Stocks(6 laps) and Late Models(12 laps).

Features- Mini Stocks, Sportsman and Late Models.

9:00- Heat races about to start.

Heat 1 finish- Coffey, Morrow, Johnson, Davenport, Hawkins, McCarter, Henry.

Heat 2 finish- Ford, Arthur, Best, Wyatt, Works, Courtney, Newman.

10:15- Feature on track. 40 laps for $2,000.

10:20- Green flag!

Lap 1 caution for Works. Hedgecock shot to early lead but Elliott attempted cross over in turn one. Hedgecock leads Elliott and King.

Lap 2 caution for slowing car of Morrow. King took 2nd on that restart. Elliott is 3rd then Adkins, Coffman, Ballenger, Coffey, Johnson, Arthur.

Lap 23 caution for Elliott spun on front stretch. Had been running 3rd. King passed Hedgecock for the lead on lap 4 and pulled out to sizeable lead. Hedgecock now 2nd. Elliott put back in 3rd.

Finish- Jimmy Elliott grabs the $2,000 first prize by passing Ryan King in the last turn of the last lap. Hedgecock was 3rd followed by Arthur, Adkins, Ballenger, Coffman, Coffey, Davenport, Beeler, Johnson, Best, McCarter, Noah.

Sportsman

Drivers here- 12 cars

Wayne Rader, Jordan Horton, Terry Poore, James Cole, Kip Sawyer, Scott Gardner, Josh Beal, Heath Alvey, Austin Atkins, Tom Larcher, Kyle Cole, Adam Mitchell.

7:25- Qualifying about to begin.

Top-2 qualifiers locked into the feature. Fast qualifier was Heath Alvey with a 14.773 followed by Scott Gardner with a 14.891.

8:35- Heat race about to begin.

Heat race finish- Horton, Cole and Sawyer. They will start 3-5 in the feature.

9:55- Feature rolling out.

Lap 2 caution for Sawyer. Alvey leads Horton and Gardner.

Lap 10 caution. Alvey and Horton having good battle for lead prior to yellow. Rader is 3rd.

Finish- Heath Alvey holds off a strong challenge from Horton to collect the $1,000 win. Rader was 3rd followed by Cole.

Mini Stock

Drivers here- 24 cars

8:10- Qualifying about to begin. Top-4 will be locked into the feature.

Top-4 qualifiers were Jason Gregory(18.277), Bryant Idles, Michael Courtney and Rocky McNabb.

8:40- Mini Stock heats about to begin.

Heat 1 finish- Taylor, Hayes, Spears, Singleton.

Heat 2 finish- Tallent, Townsend, Metler, Merritt.

9:35- Feature rolling out.

Lap 9 caution involving Gregory and McNabb, who were running 2nd and 3rd at the time. Courtney had just taken the lead the lap before. Courtney leads Idles and Taylor.

Lap 13 caution for a couple of cars with flats. Courtney was pulling away from Taylor prior to yellow.

Finish- Michael Courtney picks up $1,000 for the win over Idles, Derik Duggan , Hayes and Taylor.
