Along with a Southern Nationals Bonus race won by Chris MaddenBoyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA staged racing in four other classes as part of its Turkey Throwdown season finale on Saturday night. As part of that show, Jason Hiett prevailed after an intense early battle to score a $1,500 win in that class.

Hiett led the way in qualifying by posting a lap of 14.349 seconds around the third-mile clay oval. He was followed in time-trials by Cory Hedgecock, Dan Tipton, Ethan Hunter, Michael Page, Riley Hickman, Brandon Williams and Tom Maddox.

Tod Hernandez won the consolation race for this class to earn his way into the feature.

At the start of the 25-lap feature, Hedgecock used his outside front row starting position to take the early lead over Hiett, Hunter and Hickman. But Hiett immediately set about the task of applying pressure to Hedgecock during the initial laps.

On a lap 4 restart, Hiett made a bold move to go under Hedgecock in turn one and slid up in front of the early leader to seize the top spot. However, Hedgecock executed an equally bold crossover move to regain the lead down the backstretch and into turn three.

On a lap 8 restart, Hiett again made his bid for the lead in turns 1 & 2. This time, the move would stick and the No. A19 car went to the front. As a result of contact between the two front runners, Hickman was able to take the second spot away from Hedgecock and Hunter then moved in to challenge for third.

Over the final laps of the race, Hickman chased Hiett but was unable to make a move for the lead.

Hiett took the checkered flag ahead of Hickman, Hedgecock, Hunter, Page, Tipton and Williams.
