The news for the time of year know as “silly season” continues to roll in, and we’re not even to the PRI Show yet.

In the latest news, Chris Madden of Gray Court, SC has agreed to become the driver of the Barry Wright Race Cars house car in 2018. The story detailing the move was posted on DirtonDirt.com.

The BWRC shop is located just a short distance from Madden’s home in Cowpens, SC.

According to the report from DirtonDirt’s Kevin Kovac, Madden and Wright began discussing the possibility of the 42-year-old driver taking the wheel for the famed chassis builder back in September. The deal was finalized earlier this week. This will be a reunification of sorts in that Madden had driven for BWRC back in the early 2000’s.

Wright employed Jonathan Davenport and Ross Bailes as drivers during 2017 season.

Madden ran the World of Outlaws Late Model Series this past year and ultimately posted a second place result in those standings. A return to that series in the upcoming season has not been ruled out but there is also the possibility of a pick-and-choose type schedule as well.

The car will carry Madden’s familiar No. 44 with power being provided by Clements Racing Engines. Madden’s longtime sponsors will be on board for the season as well.
