Along with their Spring Nationals Super Late Model special event, the Cleveland Speedway staged a full slate of weekly racing on Friday night. Frequent A-Hobby class winner Booger Brooks has recently stepped up in class and came away as the winner of the $1,200 Crate Late Model feature at the historic facility.

Jason Deal set the pace early in CLM qualifying when he turned a lap of 14.004 seconds around the third-mile clay oval. Brooks, Bobby Mayse and Bobby Richey, Jr. followed Deal in time trials to earn front row starting positions in their respective heat races.

Mayse and Brooks were allowed to start on the front row in the main event by virtue of their wins in those heat races.

Brooks went to the lead immediately when the 25-lap feature took the green flag with Mayse, Tanner Works and Ethan Hunter in tow. The battle for third was a hot one from the outset between Works, Hunter and Andrew Littleton.

Two early cautions for spins in mid-pack provided Mayse with the opportunity to make strong bids for the lead on each ensuing restart but Brooks was able to beat back the challenge each time. At the same time, Works, Hunter, Littleton and Brett Wyatt fought for the remaining positions in the top-5.

A lap 11 caution proved to be a pivotal moment as the second running Mayse was caught up in an accident that damaged his car enough to force his retirement from the event.

Over the final laps of the race, Brooks pulled away to a somewhat comfortable advantage while Works, Hunter and Wyatt raced in three-wide formation behind the leader around virtually every turn.

In the end, Booger Brroks won out over Tanner Works, Ethan Hunter, Brett Wyatt, Andrew Littleton, Jerry Coffman and Bobby Richey, Jr.

In other action, Jimmy Smith won the A-Hobby feature over Brandon Stanfield and Booger Brooks.

Also, Ricky Wagner beat out Richard Dixon and Adam Earwood in the B-Hobby feature race.
